SHREE KRISHNA RESOURCE CENTRE
The Shree Krishna Resource Centre is a not-for- profit registered Charity organisation (Registration No. 1184960) that manages the affairs of the temple at 10B High Street, Leamington. It started as a Hindu Religious Association (HRA) in June 1979 to promote advancement, principles, culture & education of Hindu faith in Leamington and Warwick. The Association also offered services (soup kitchen and charity activities) to relieve poverty in the community.
The Charity serves Hindu population within Warwickshire. But the activities are extended to the entire community, especially the poor and the needy.
In the early years, members hired, as a temporary measure, Kingsway Community Centre at weekends for social & religious gatherings.
Gradually, as the membership grew and the activities increased, the current site (Engineering Workshop) was purchased in January 1986 at a value of £39.000.00. It was an industrial shed, close to the Leamington town centre and easily accessible by public transport.
Subsequently, intensive fund raising and support from local & surrounding communities enabled the improvements to the structure, and the structure took shape of a Hindu Mandir.
In July 1994, idols of Hindu Gods (Deities) were installed over a period of three days with a big Religious ceremony, attended by people from surrounding towns. Since then, HRA has united all communities in Leamington, Warwick & surrounding areas, creating a harmonious, peaceful & a welcoming atmosphere.
Since then, the activities of the HRA have increased manifold. The services offered to the community have over run the purpose it was originally designed for and required a new building fit for purpose to suit needs of twenty first century society.
