LOHRI

Leamington Mandir celebrates Lohri by doing a bonfire in the Mandir parking area. People from all communities join the event by doing parikrama around the bonfire and with offerings like jaggery, sesame seeds, peanuts, puffed rice. Mandir offers Langar with authentic Punjabi food.

HOLI

Holi is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm in our Mandir. Our Mandir does Holika Dahan in the Car Parking area which is joined by hundreds of people every year.  Mandir also provides opportunity for devotees to play dry colour Holi with our Laddoo Gopal Shree Krishna Bhagwan ji. Holi festival is incomplete without playing colours with each other. Mandir organises the Holi festival of colours for the entire community at the Mandir car parking, where people play colours play with each other and enjoy dance and authentic Indian street food.

VAISAKHI MELA

Vaisakhi Mela is a vibrant and joyous festival celebrated primarily by the Sikh community, marking the Punjabi New Year and the formation of the Khalsa in 1699. Held annually around April 13 or 14, the mela (fair) features a rich array of cultural activities, including traditional music, dance, and food. It serves as a time for families and communities to come together in colourful attire, participate in parades, and enjoy various folk performances such as Bhangra and Gidda. The festival not only commemorates historical and religious significance but also highlights the enduring cultural heritage of Punjab. In Leamington Vaisakhi, celebrations create a close community spirit.

LEAMINGTON PEACE/FOOD FESTIVAL

The local populations in Leamington spa is quite multi-cultural and appreciate food from different parts of the world. Festivals are organised during summertime by the local authorities for bringing people from various diverse communities together. Leamington Peace Festival and Food Festival are quite popular. Our Mandir serves the fully vegetarian popular Indian food to the local public at very minimal cost. People just love our food and like us to serve year after year.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

Yoga enables the unity of mind, body, and soul. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing Yoga. The resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga was proposed by India and endorsed by a record 175 member states. Shree Krishna Community Centre hosts a public every for International Yoga Day for everyone since 2014. A family event to celebrate the nature of Yoga.

HALF MARATHAN

Leamington Half Marathon takes place every year in the month of June organised by Raceaways to support a local charity. It’s a beautiful traffic route starting from Royal Pump Room Gardens and goes through the countryside villages in Cubbington, Offchurch and Redford Semele. There is great enthusiasm in our Hindu community about this event. Every year an increasing number of participants joins this event. Last year there were 10 runners who completed half-marathon and 30 children who participated in the Kids fun run supporting construction of the new building for our Mandir.

JAGANNATH RATH YATRA

The Jagannath Rath Yatra at Shree Krishna Mandir in Leamington Spa is a beacon of devotion and community spirit. This town in west midland witnessed its first ever Rath Yatra on 8th July 2023 with a footfall of around 400 devotees.
A beautiful Rath (chariot) is built by enthusiastic volunteers. Various rituals of the day include the deities being taken to rath with a grand procession (called Pahandi), Rath cleaning ritual (called Cheraa pahanraa) and then followed by the rath pulling with a thrilling kirtan. The Rath Yatra, symbolizing Lord Jagannath’s sacred journey, brings together people in unity and reverence. Enjoy stalls offering delicious Indian food, exciting kids’ activities, cultural performances, and the joyous tradition of pulling the Rath.

DAHI MATKI

Dahi Matki is a popular tradition in some parts of India for celebrating Shree Krishna Janmashtami. Our Mandir tries to bring this tradition to Leamington by organising this event in a safe manner. It is a very popular occasion among the Hindu population in Leamington and nearby areas. There are games for children, some cultural shows and delicious Indian food served by our dedicated volunteers. A fantastic community event enjoyed by all.

GANPATI

Ganpati festival is one of the biggest Utsav celebrate in Leamington Mandir. Mandir organises a Ganpati Idol making workshop for the cause of spreading message of ECO Friendly Ganpati. We welcome Ganpati Bappa with Dhol-tasha and Lezim and celebrate the entire Utsav with various activities like Clutural Program, Bhajan Sandhya, Ganesh hawan. For the duration of the Utsav (6-10 days) devotees from different status of India offer authentic food cooked in the Mandir kitchen for the entire community. We do the procession on the last Day of the Utsav and do the visarjan at Leamington Boat Club every year.

NAVRATRI

Navaratri is the nine nights annual festival to celebrate the feminine power in our religion in the form of Goddess Durga. Our Mandir celebrates the festival with a unique shringar of Mata Ji on each of these 9 days. Pooja and havan are performed throughout the 9 days at the Mandir premises.  Devotees worship Kanya and Langurs at the Mandir during evening pooja. The festival is culminated with the Garba Raas performed by devotees at Mandir parking area. It’s a very joyous occasion loved by children and adults alike.

DUSSERA

Immediate after the Navratri festival, our Hindu calendar has another great festival of Dussehra which is very very pooular among devlotees from Leamington and surrounding areas. We do Ravan dehan every year for past few years, keeping the culture alive giving opportunity to younger ones away from India to have the flavour of Indian festivals in UK. A short Ramlila is performed by our children displaying the story of Lord Rama and Devi Sita. Like other festivals delicious Indian street food is served. Hot Jalebis are a big attraction in this festival.

DIWALI LIGHTS SWITCH ON

The Diwali lights switch-on at the parade in Leamington Spa, Warwick, is a cherished annual tradition, first inaugurated on October 23, 1992. Each year, the event draws dignitaries, all councillors, and the Mayor, highlighting its significance within the community. The celebration has grown immensely popular, with last year’s event drawing a large public turnout. As we look forward to this year’s switch-on in 2024, the excitement is palpable, promising another vibrant and festive occasion for all attendees.

DIWALI

Diwali, the festival of lights is the most recognised festival by all Indian and local community alike. our Leamington town even has Happy Diwali lights on the high-street switched on at the Diwali festival. Our Mandir does a beautiful Diya decoration of all Bhagwan Jis and around the Mandir. It creates a beautiful atmosphere cherished by all. On the Diwali day Jalebi and freshly made sweets made in Mandir are available for purchase. During Govardhan pooja our Mandir organises a Chhappan (56) Bhog, which is a very popular event not to be missed. The year of celebrations is finished with the Tulsi Vivah, which is another hugely successful event where the Vivah of Tulsi with Shaligram is performed in our Mandir.

DIWALI CULTURAL SHOW

Diwali cultural show is an annual event organised by Shree Krishna Community Centre jointly with the Sikh Community Centre at the premises of the Sikh Community Centre. This is a thanksgiving opportunity of our Mandir to the whole community for the support they provide to Mandir throughout the year. This is a hugely successful event attended by 450 people last year only limited by the capacity of the venue. The event begins with high tea, games, and photo booth; followed by a 90 minute cultural show. It is a show of the community by the community and for the community. The variety and standards performed in the show are to a very high standard. A great event bringing the communities together.

LANTERN PARADE

The Leamington Lantern parade is a local event organised by BID Leamington invites the local community to creatively ‘Luminate Leamington’ with handmade Lanterns that are paraded through the town centre. Their vision is to bring the whole community together in a creative way to share in the spirit of the season, meet new people, create something wonderful, share smiles, and have a fun. Our community takes part in this event by creating lanterns based on the Hindu theme. Hindu people from local areas including students from Warwick University feel proud of our roots when they see our children with these lanterns in the parade. A very beautiful event promoting the community spirit.
